St Patricks Day in the Upper Valley!
It is finally time to dust off the green! St. Patricks Day is right around the corner, the stores are filling with green like things and Salt Hill Pub is preparing for their all day feast. Let's see what all the options are for next week.
With St Patricks Day on a Friday this year why not look to get away for the weekend! No need to go too far away, the Inn at Long Trail in Killington is the perfect St Patricks getaway. Here you can enjoy traditional Irish fare in a traditional Irish Pub. McGraths Irish Pub is run like a true pub in Ireland welcoming to everyone. Being the first pub to sell a Guinness pint in Vermont, they still continue to sell the most. If Guinness isn't your thing don't worry McGraths also has a large selection of Irish Whiskies to enjoy. I understand maybe getting away for the weekend isn't possible, we all have those weekend obligations. Don't worry there is still plenty to do right here. On Friday Salt Hill Pub will be opening their doors at 9:00 am to any hard core Irish wanting to start their day off right! If you have to work have no fear this party will continue into the night to serve all hard workers in the Upper Valley. There will be live music all day and chances to win fun prizes like cold hard cash. Crowds and lines can be stressful I get it, if that is the case for you then I suggest Putnams Vineyard. I've talked about this place before and I have to say it is becoming a quick favorite for me. They serve wonderful drinks, and always know my name when I walk in. But enough about that let's talk St Patricks here. The staff here is very excited for their first St Patricks here and are happy to announce they will be having a food truck on site to serve traditional Irish fare. They will also be serving beer flights. VinDogs Food Truck will arrive at 5:00 on Friday and will also return Saturday morning to continue serving that Irish goodness. I'm not sure you can go wrong with either of these choices.
As for Saturday because a holiday should be celebrated more than one day. You can stop at Putnams Vineyard for breakfast then you have a choice of what to do next. Lebanon Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department is hosting a Shamrock Shuffle 5K run. All proceeds will support them and their yearly activities. Or you can choose to head to Ragged Mountain for some skiing and Shamrock Hunting. Shamrocks will be hidden around the mountain and you receive a prize when you find one. All proceeds go towards helping Ragged Mountain Ski Patrol Department.
Then on Sunday the day of rest take time to hydrate, and sleep off any hangovers you may still have.
Have Fun and Be Safe!
Rachel
